LOWELL --- Following financial delays and controversy, developers say they are now ready to begin construction on the former Julian Steele housing complex, which will be reinvented into a 180-unit, mixed market-rate and affordable housing effort.

WAYLAND --- An interviewing committee has narrowed the selection to four proposals for the development of a former Nike factory into a 16-unit affordable housing development.

ALLSTON --- Harvard University and Charlesview Inc., a non-profit developer, move towards a land-exchange agreement that will allow Harvard to extend their campus while giving Charlesview additional land on a new site that will allow them to increase their affordable housing stock.

WALTHAM --- City councilors hope the mayor will accept the bid for a developer to convert an old school into affordable housing units, while the mayor waits for more proposals to be submitted.

AMESBURY --- The town has passed a bylaw to increase its housing stock by preserving historic buildings such as barns and carriage houses as affordable housing units.

CANTON --- A judge has ruled that the town can reject a developer's 40B proposal because although they have not reached the required 10 percent, the town already approved another proposal which, when built, will boost them over the quota. An appeal of the decision is expected.
